In March 2011, Queeny and I flew to Melbourne for a much anticipated reunion with our Guide Dogs Victoria class of 2009. We were to meet our classmates in the city for lunch and the afternoon together, the day after our arrival.
Gathering at Southern Cross railway station, a restaurant was selected for its convenience at South Bank. It was unfortunate that Peter & Edie, and Caroline & Jarvis, could not attend at the last minute. They called and wished us well. It had been a year since we all got together for our annual reunion following graduation.
With Peggy Soo & Pandora leading the way, Queeny and I followed with Jasan & Quentin, (Queeny’s brother), and Candice & Ojay. It was a mild sunny day. Walking along the crowded footpaths, our guides showed their talents. We are all so proud of our guides, talking happily of the changes they have made to our lives.
The bond with our dogs has grown over time. The closeness we share is clearly understood amongst us. We enjoyed our training and will always keep in touch. During our month together at GDV we formed close friendship with each other. GDV informed us, this is not always the case with training groups. We feel wonderful that our mix was a great one!
Until next year, when I feel sure we will gather from far and wide again, phone calls and emails will keep us in contact.
